It looks like it will make his work easier. It looks like he had a smart idea. But no way is this safe.
When we go about finding a clever way of turning a complicated task into an easier or faster one doesn’t mean all common sense should be pushed aside.
And what about the employer? It’s the employer’s responsibility to make sure workers have all the necessary equipment to do their job in the best conditions. If they had the necessary tool, they wouldn’t have done this.
This is not the last of stupidity. Here are some baffling things done at work in the name of taking shortcuts.
1. The stilt balancers
Stilts are dangerous. Especially if you offend a woman wearing a pair. These stunts here are equally dangerous.
2. Shocking.
Just because pigeons do it, doesn’t mean you should either.
3. Out of balance
One does not challenge physics. Or gravity.
4. Heavy lifters
As any old-timer will tell you, heavy machinery should be treated with fear and respect. If you have neither, you should not have the keys.
5. Human extensions
I don’t know about you, but when I look up and see window cleaners perched on skyscrapers I always say to myself: “there’s no amount of money for which I could be talked into getting up there”.
Now imagine if you had to go there without proper harnesses or other basic safety equipment:

Some people just seem to go out of their way to make their jobs even riskier than they already are.

OK, to be fair, this guy is particularly impressive. That’s why I gave him his own category.
But just think of all the things that could potentially go wrong and you’ll quickly realise he’s more of a daredevil with a death wish:
