The following message came in from a person who identifies himself as “Chan”.
Did you know the Lunar New Year reception is to show appreciation to a wide cross section of people who have helped serve the community?
With limited space at the Istana, the invitees are rotated among grassroots leaders and volunteers. It is not meant for the same person to attend year after year for 20, 30 years.
No one could use the occasion to profile himself as if it was his/her own event.
Perhaps it would be nice to spare a thought for the many people who may have the chance to attend just once or none at all.
Granted, it was not in the most graceful of fashion, but Mr. Tan Cheng Bock did receive a call by a Cabinet Minister to apologise for a technical glitch.
