If you or your organization is thinking about posting up a tribute advertisement for the Lee family, save the time and effort. Singapore Press Holdings has been asked to refuse these ads.
The Vice President of Marketing and Digital Divisions was quick to also note that:
“Apart from this, it will be business as usual for advertising in SPH newspapers and other platforms”
This is not an unprecedented move.
In 2010 when Lee Kuan Yew’s wife, Kwa Geok Choo passed away, the family also requested that no obituaries, wreaths or flowers to be sent. All monetary donations given was donated to the National Neuroscience Institute Health Research Endowment Fund.
Meanwhile, the Singapore General Hospital has opened up a designated area for members of the public to leave cards and flowers for the Former Prime Minister.
