Youtuber Amos Yee has been charged in court for multiple offences for his insensitive rant against our First Prime Minister and Christianity.
Bail had ben set at $20,000 and was posted. So former child star Amos Yee has been released on condition that he does not upload or post any more content onto Youtube, Social Media or any other online services.
Amos Yee, who was arrested on Sunday, had his charges read out to him in Court. The three charges were under Section 298 and Section 292(1)(a) of the Penal Code, as well as Section 4(1)(b) of the Protection from Harassment Act.
He was deemed to have caused further injury to members of the public who were already in a state of distress during the week of mourning, as well as wounding the religious feelings of Christians in Singapore.
Amos Yee’s father spoke to reporters after the hearing, saying “I want to take this opportunity to say very sorry to Prime Minister Lee.”
