WP Rallies 2–3 September: AHPETC Gauntlet Thrown Down
For those of you who 1) weren’t there for the rallies so far 2) cannot go to the rallies but are kaypoh 3) are lazy to go but still kaypoh, I have thoughtfully live-tweeted rally coverage for y’all. I even did it in Singlish, because at some point, TLDR, right?
If you are really too lazy — sorry, I mean busy — to read the whole breakdown, then this is what you should know. AHPETC was mentioned, and the WP said the PAP anyhowly say they much negligence, very dodgy, so devious. Which really, is a conversation we have heard a lot. Also, fake degrees are a thing that many people are angry about, and PMETs just can’t catch a break.
Note to simisai also complain kings/queens: I have paraphrased in Singlish as accurately as I can, without changing the meaning of what the speakers were saying. My own comments are clearly distinguished from the speaker’s content by parentheses. Apologies for typos: my depressingly wide thumbs do not help when live-tweeting.
Y’all don’t say I anyhowly paraphrase, hor.
Here’s the summary of the Workers’ Party’s first two rallies of campaign season, helpfully translated into Singlish for lighter reading. (You are welcome.)
#GE2015 In Tweets: WP Rallies 2–3 September [Singlish Edition]
On foreigners, fake degrees:
Yes, there is … a lot left in the sink, so to speak. But if you pull the plug, then how? Good and bad all leave, correct? Are we seriously going to deport every non-Singaporean PMET working here? Hey, while we’re doing that, let’s also just revoke all the first-generation citizenships too. After all, we’re not like, the third generation descendants of immigrants or anything like that, right?

WP Is Totally Into The Minimum Wage
I’m not sure this is the best idea you’ve had so far, guys. Really meh, minimum wage is linked to dependence on foreign labour? If the main problem is that PMET salaries are being undercut by foreign PMETs, then maybe a more calibrated approach than a blanket minimum wage is needed?
Random Rally Amusement
And lastly, the unintentional comedy that ensues when I attempt to understand Malay language discourse more complicated than “Uncle, halia susu ais satu.”
Next up: More rally fun in Singlish! Party political broadcasts! More hastily eaten tar powed dinners at rallies, because the nation now has election fever!
