End of the road for CHC leaders, at least for the next 10 – 12 years, or at least that’s what the Public Prosecutor and us is hoping for.
The sentence hasn’t been passed as of yet, but we could be in for some news this Friday as Judge See comes closer to putting an end to this saga by throwing the lot of them in jail, including Serina Wee whom we feel slightly sad for, but well a crime is a crime.
We all know the crime, the lure of money and the funneling of money towards the musical career of a false idol in the guise of a horse/geisha/tone deaf shameless Ho. Aside from that they’ve also pretended to be a church (although that isn’t the crime they’re being charged for).
4 of the 6 have been recommended a jail term of 11- 12 years, these include, frontman Kong (51), deputy senior pastor (where they come up with these titles) Tan Yee Peng(43), former CHC finance manager Serina Wee (38) and former CHC fund manager Chew Eng Han (55).
Of the remaining two, former CHC finance committee member John Lam (47) has been recommended a sentence of 8 – 9 years. While former CHC finance manager Sharon Tan (40) has been given the lightest recommended sentence with 5 – 6 years.
Many following the case would have been hoping for a stiffer punishment, but to some this seems a stuff enough sentence. We’re just hoping they learn a thing or two about honesty in prison.
