It’s Christmas. Your friends are coupled up and celebrating the festivities in their partners’ embrace while you are bemoaning your forever alone status. But wait, it doesn’t have to be like this! You CAN (and will) enjoy being single during Christmas. So here are 12 fun things to do for each of those silent, lonely, 12 days of Christmas nights.
1. Drink alone at these cool bars
Drinking alone is not sad. It can be rather nice spending time reflecting on the year and reminiscing those memorable moments. Check out these 10 cool bars and maybe you might bump into someone special.
2. Rewatch Star Wars Episodes 4, 5, 6
Star Wars fever is ON. If you haven’t watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we suggest you go catch it, but not before watching Episode 4: A new Hope, Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back, Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. What about Episodes 1, 2 and 3, you ask? These are not the episodes you are looking for…
3. Try out adult colouring books
Colouring is not just for kids. And no, an adult colouring book does not involve porn. Many adults find it (colouring, not porn) relaxing and therapeutic. Try it! It might just surprise you.
4. Volunteer and help someone
You get to help others, meet new people and help make someone’s day a little better. Why not?
5. Take guided Walks at [email protected]
So this just recently opened. According to NParks, it’s the first of its kind in SEA and it wants to prevent animals from becoming roadkill.
6. Visit the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum
We love dinosaurs and all sorts of critters, so we are totally nerding out on this, plus anyone can visit a museum alone.
7. Visit a cat cafe
Yea because you might as well start channeling your inner crazy cat person now. No, no, no, we don’t mean that, it’s just fun, tis all!
8. Hit the gym
Getting in shape will make you feel better. Also, legend has it that gyms are great places to make new friends… “Friends”…
9. Visit a mushroom farm
There, there… Take comfort in knowing that you’re not the only ones growing mushrooms, HO HO HO!
10. Binge on TV shows
If you’re into anime, watch One Punch Man. For the rest of the world, here are our top picks:
- How to get away with murder
- Bojack Horseman
- The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
- Rick and Morty
- Game of Thrones
- Running Man (Korean variety show)
- Master of None
- Brooklyn Nine-nine
- Fresh off the Boat
Sometimes, nothing beats a good book and a nice cup of coffee. Check out what these 3 highly influential people are reading.
12. Learn to play an instrument / yoga / a martial art – ANYTHING
Learn something you’ve always wanted to learn but never had the chance to! I have friends taking Cajón (What the hell is that? Go Google) lessons, BJJ (NOT what you think), guitar lessons, KPop dancing and pole dancing. Learning is fun, do it. You meet new people and you learn a new skill. Also the government is giving you $500 to learn anything you want, use it to enrich your life!
