Here’re our top picks from Bukit Batok’s By-Election Nomination Day Attendees
- The Spotlight
The spotlight is on PAP’s Tharman Shanmugaratnam & SDP’s Paul Tambyah – not just because they reflect the spotlight much better when foreheads combined, but because they both represent the weight of their party’s full force and support for their candidates, Murali Pillai and Dr Chee Soon Juan respectively. And maybe a bit of the foreheads combined.
2. The Underdog
Uber driver Shirwin Eu is back, you guys! Sadly, he hasn’t found any assentors, but hopes to get support at the centre. On his reasons for running, he says he’s in it for the fame and wealth the position brings. What an honest chap. What a refreshing answer.
3. The Sideshow
Adding to the noise is famed opposer with equally famed high-pitched voice, Han Hui Hui, also spotted on the grounds. This one just doesn’t disappoint. Just as we were starting to miss her.
4. The Sub-Plot
Opposition veteran Kwan Yue Keng, 68, is also here at the nomination. He said he is here to ensure there is no walkover if Dr Chee Soon Juan is disqualified for any reason. It is unclear if he filed his papers. Source: Today
5. The Show Stealer
PAP’s Tharman had a chat with SDP’s Paul Tambyah – and it’s all pretty diplomatic and formal, with Paul’s mini slip (or perhaps jab) by admitting to being “confused” by some schemes, and Tharman – as usual – handling it Tharman-style, i.e. shutting it down in 9 words or less, with you nodding away in agreement.
But what stole the show was…
>> this lady’s expression as Paul was addressing the reporters.
Does she like him? Does she doubt him? Does anyone know?
