A Standard Chartered Bank branch in Holland Village was allegedly robbed by a Caucasian man at 11.25am today.
The Caucasian man was wearing a cap, and according to police officers, no weapons were used and there were no injuries.
The last time Singapore had a bank robbery attempt was in 2008 where a a man tried to rob a United Overseas Bank branch in City Plaza.
BUT, this is actually the second time a Standard Chartered bank was robbed. In 1970, a Standard Chartered branch in Raffles Place was robbed by 3 men who escaped with $946,000.
Bank robberies are actually quite a rare occurrence in Singapore.
And to lighten things up, Singaporeans came out to put a little humour into the news on their Facebook after news broke about today’s robbery.
