7 songs to help you remember our 6 potential new Prime Minister

PM Lee ain’t immortal and the succession planning has been a key priority since the last General Election. Much speculation have been made ever since, particularly on the Internet. Some weeks back, ST published an article identifying 6 very important men who could well be our new PM. I mean I know they are our ministers and we should know well by now, but sadly the truth is that many still get them all mixed up. (Like you know, my Mum STILL can’t tell our President apart from the KFC Uncle.) Never fear, let me help you remember these guys easily with these 7 songs.

Acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills)

Ong Ye Kung

Drake – Started from the bottom

Not exactly bottom but he was part of the first PAP team that lost an election in a GRC in 2011. And now he’s here.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Chan Chun Sing

2pm – Hands up

‘Cause you know, kee chiu.

Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat

Jessie J – Price tag

Yup, he is our $$$ minister.

Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin

Charlie Winston – Like A Hobo

Minister #proudtobehobo

Acting Minister for Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng

Eagles – New kid in town

I doubt his English name is Johnny but he IS the new kid in town amongst the six.

National Development Minister Lawrence Wong

If You’re Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands song

Because happiness is a choice and “we can choose to be happy”.

Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam

If you are sharp enough, you would have noticed that I mentioned 6 front runners but 7 songs. Here’s why.

The one that everyone had their money on but didn’t work out.
